Dave Padgett Memorial Relief Fund Dave Padgett

Mission Statement:
The purpose of this fund is to provide monetary relief for those in dire need of aid; to help our fellow man in time of need.
  • In this document the VFW Men’s Aux. Post 1786 will be referred to as the “auxiliary.”
  • The Dave Padgett Memorial Relief Fund will be referred to as the “fund.” 
  • The VFW Men’s Aux. Post 1786 members serving the “funds” committee will be referred to as the “Committee.”


By-Laws:

  1. The President of the Auxiliary will be responsible for all business of the fund.
  2. The Jr. Vice- President of the Auxiliary will chair the committee of the fund. And will be the deciding vote on the funds business.  He will serve his respective term on the committee.  As chairperson, his responsibilities will include organizing committee meetings, soliciting the Auxiliary Treasurer for funds and reporting the committee activities at the monthly meeting.
  3. The President of the Auxiliary will appoint a (2) man committee.  This committee will serve a term of one year beginning at the May meeting.  This appointed committee will answer to the chairperson of the same committee.
  4. The purpose of this committee will be to supervise fundraising, investigate, discuss, and award monetary aid to concerned parties.  This committee will protect the fund from bankruptcy, fraud and will report its activities at the monthly meeting.
  5. This committee will request the Treasurer of the Auxiliary to distribute funds only when all three committee members have given their verbal or written approval.
  6. All donations and all accounting will be handled by the Auxiliary Treasurer.  Only the Auxiliary Treasurer can distribute funds to the concerned party.  The Treasurer will ascertain the approval of the committee prior to awarding monetary aid.  A separate accounting will be made for the fund.
  7. Monies that are approved may be distributed in $200 increments on a monthly basis.  Any amount larger then the aforesaid must be presented to the Auxiliary membership for approval at the regular meeting.
  8. The requestor(s) of the funds may do so in writing.  A verbal application may be made to the committee members of the fund.
  9. At the general monthly meeting, the membership present may refer a case to this fund as a request for aid for the concerned party for the good of the order.
  10. The Auxiliary trustee’s will serve as Trustees to the fund.  They will serve their respective terms.
  11. If a committee member of the fund should resign or become deceased, the President of the Auxiliary will have the power to appoint a new member at the next monthly meeting.
  12. These by-laws may be amended at the monthly Auxiliary meeting, and measures may be passed by a simple majority.
  13. The fund may be dissolved only by a (2/3) two- thirds majority of membership present at the Auxiliary monthly meeting.  Upon dissolution, all monies will be disbursed to the local charity of the membership’s choice.
  14. These by-laws will take effect after a vote of approval is passed at the regular monthly meeting and signed by the President and by the Secretary of the Auxiliary.
